Hello everyone, and welcome to our October newsletter!
We hope you’re keeping well and enjoyed the last of the summer sunshine. As we fully embrace the colourful season of autumn, we have plenty of updates, tips, and exciting news to share with you and your furry family members.

This month’s newsletter includes some exciting updates from The Woodbridge Vets: we’re welcoming a new veterinary surgeon, celebrating our recent accreditation, and sharing a few heartwarming stories from our in-patients that we think you’ll enjoy.
With a little preparation and seasonal awareness, autumn can be one of the cosiest and healthiest times of year for pets and their families. So, while you enjoy the changing colours and cooler air, be sure to keep your furry companions safe, comfortable, and ready to share in the season’s warmth.
Meet The Team
We’re delighted to welcome Lizzie as the latest addition to The Woodbridge Vets team! Lizzie brings a friendly and approachable manner that makes both pets and their owners feel at ease. We’re excited for her to join us in providing exceptional veterinary care and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our clients and their beloved pets.
Lizzie spent her childhood on the Cornish coast, surrounded by horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2017 with a degree in Veterinary Science and moved straight to East Anglia.

After eight years working at small animal practices in Essex and Suffolk, Lizzie joined The Woodbridge Vets in 2025. She was eager to become part of a forward-thinking team where she could continue to develop her veterinary skills. Lizzie enjoys the variety that veterinary medicine offers. She particularly values building relationships with her clients and their pets, and has a special interest in medical cases and ultrasound.
At the weekend, Lizzie can be found showjumping on her horse, Elvis, running with her dog, Stevie, or being bossed around by Sidney, her cat.
Our newest veterinary surgeons – Lizzie, Emma, and Christiaan are now accepting new clients and their cherished pets. Each brings extensive experience, a genuine passion for animal care, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, personalised treatment.
From routine check-ups and preventive care to more complex treatments, Lizzie, Emma, and Christiaan are here to help your pets stay happy, healthy, and thriving.
National Pet Wellness Month
At The Woodbridge Vets, we’re passionate about helping pets live longer, healthier, and happier lives. This October, in honour of National Pet Wellness Month, we’re encouraging all pet owners to take a moment to check in on their pet’s overall health and wellbeing.
Wellness care isn’t just about treating problems when they arise – it’s about preventing them in the first place. Whether your pet is young, old, or somewhere in between, regular check-ups and preventive care can make all the difference.

What is a health check?
AAt The Woodbridge Vets, we believe pet wellness is about more than simply preventing illness - it’s about healthy habits and offering reassurance every step of the way.
Detect early signs of illness or discomfort
Keep vaccinations and parasite protection up to date
Monitor your pet’s weight, diet, and dental health
Offer advice on behaviour, lifestyle, and age-related changes
Provide tailored support as your pet grows older
But it’s not just about health - regular visits also help your pet become familiar and comfortable in the veterinary environment.Popping in for routine checks means your pet gets used to the sights, sounds, and smells of the practice, helping reduce stress if they ever need to come in when unwell. It’s all part of helping your pet feel safe, supported, and cared for - every time they come through our doors.
Pet Smile Month – Keep Those Teeth Healthy!
October is Pet Smile Month, and at The Woodbridge Vets, we’re encouraging all pet owners to take a closer look at their pets’ oral health. Dental care is not just about a bright smile - healthy teeth and gums are vital for your pet’s overall wellbeing.
Why Dental Health Matters
Plaque and tartar buildup can lead to gum disease (gingivitis), tooth decay, and tooth loss. But it doesn’t stop there: oral infections can allow bacteria to enter the bloodstream, potentially affecting vital organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys. By keeping your pet’s mouth healthy, you’re protecting their whole body.

Everyday Care Tips for Healthy Teeth
Daily brushing with a pet-safe toothpaste is the gold standard. Start slow and make it a positive experience
Dental chews and toys help reduce plaque and keep gums strong
Special diets designed for dental health can aid in controlling
tartar buildup
Encourage pets to chew safe treats that promote oral hygiene
Professional Dental Care
Some pets may require professional cleaning under general anaesthetic to thoroughly remove tartar and examine teeth for fractures, hidden infections, or oral tumors. Our vets at The Woodbridge Vets can assess whether your pet would benefit from this procedure.
