The Woodbridge Vets: April newsletter!

Hello and welcome to our April newsletter from The Woodbridge Vets.

We hope you had a lovely Easter break and are now enjoying the longer days, along with a little bit of sunshine...

Veterinary Care

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)’s recent report on the veterinary sector has highlighted something we have always believed at The Woodbridge Vets: pet owners deserve clear information, greater transparency around pricing, and the ability to make fully informed decisions about their pet’s care.

The report places a strong emphasis on improving transparency across the profession, including clearer pricing, written estimates for treatment, and better awareness of prescription options - areas that are central to helping clients feel informed and confident. As an independent practice, this has always been at the heart of how we work. We believe veterinary care should feel open, straightforward, and personal.

This means taking the time to explain things clearly, discussing the available options, and being upfront about likely costs so you can make the decision that feels right for you and your pet.

We already provide estimates before procedures, publish our prices on our website, offer prescriptions where appropriate, and ensure clients have the information they need before proceeding with treatment. Above all, our focus is on doing what is best for you and your pet. Our team is committed to delivering excellent clinical care alongside the kind of personal, thoughtful support that helps clients feel confident and well cared for.

The Woodbridge Vets is turning 4!

On 25th April, we celebrate four incredible years of The Woodbridge Vets. Looking back on our journey so far, we feel immensely proud of what we’ve achieved and grateful for the trust and support of our clients.

From the very beginning, our aim has been to set the standard for high-quality, compassionate veterinary care - and to continue building on that commitment every day.

In just four years, the practice has grown significantly. We’ve expanded and added more consultation rooms, increasing our surgical space, and creating greater kennel capacity. We’ve also invested in advanced equipment and highly qualified veterinary surgeons, including a CT scanner, upgraded ultrasound machines, and new capabilities such as endoscopy and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

Our dental facilities have also seen major improvements. With the addition of a dedicated dental suite and advanced dental imaging, including dental x-ray, we’re able to provide more comprehensive care - from routine scale and polish treatments to diagnosing and managing more complex dental conditions - and much more to continue delivering the highest standard of care for your pets.

None of this would have been possible without you - our clients and the wonderful community behind us here in Suffolk. From those who registered with us before we even opened, to those joining us every day or considering joining, your support has meant everything.

On behalf of the entire team, thank you for being part of our journey and for helping to make our first four years such a success - with much more still to come. Following the success of The Hadleigh Vets, which opened in September 2024 by Kyle and Laurie alongside Jo and Jess, many of you may already have seen some of the exciting updates shared in recent weeks. We’re now pleased to officially introduce The Colchester Vets.

While helping to launch this new practice, Kyle and Laurie will continue to work full-time at The Woodbridge Vets. So, if they are your regular vets, don’t worry - they’re not going anywhere. These new ventures are not about stepping away from Woodbridge, but about building something alongside their continued commitment to the practice and its clients.

The wider aim is to create more opportunities for independent practice ownership by giving vets a pathway to become practice owners themselves, with Kyle and Laurie leading their own teams, shaping their own futures, and building successful independent practices with the right support behind them.

The Colchester Vets - Opening August 2026

Kyle and Laurie have worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to bring this new Colchester practice to life, and we’re really excited to finally be able to share it properly.

The Colchester Vets will be led by experienced vet Chris Goetschel and his long-time colleague Joanna Rodak-Smith, who bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to kind, high-quality care.

The practice has been purpose-built to create a modern, welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. With excellent facilities, advanced equipment, and a dedicated team, it will offer a wide range of services - from routine health checks and preventative care to more complex procedures and holistic treatment options.

Located just seconds from the A12, the practice is easy to access and brings first-opinion veterinary care together under one roof for the Colchester community. If you’re local to the Colchester area, or know someone nearby who is looking for a trusted veterinary practice, we’d love for you to visit the website or social media platforms, pre-register your pet, and keep an eye out for details of upcoming open days.
