May is Veterinary Nurses Awareness Month which makes it the perfect time to shine a light on all of the hard work done by our incredible veterinary nurses. As trained, certified professionals they are dedicated and passionate about supporting the vets in delivering the highest quality medical care to their patients.

The veterinary nursing team at The Woodbridge Vets plays an integral role by performing a huge range of important functions, all of which contribute directly to the health and wellbeing of your pet. It’s safe to say that there is no typical day for a vet nurse, but on any given day they can find themselves triaging emergencies, admitting patients for surgery, placing IV catheters, monitoring anaesthesia, taking blood samples and performing diagnostic tests, taking x-rays or CT scans, preparing and administering medication, submitting insurance claims and discharging patients back to their owners.
Did you know they can also perform some minor surgery too?
Just as you might expect to find in a human medical setting, the nurses are true advocates for their patients. Immediately reporting any subtle signs and symptoms which could indicate a change in their medical status means the vet can adjust treatment plans or consider additional medication as needed.
They truly are amazing!
As a practice, we cannot thank them enough for the ongoing support they provide to our veterinary surgeons, clients, and patients. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have such a fantastic team behind us!
