October 2026 Newsletter
Hello and welcome to our October Newsletter!
We hope you’re all keeping well and enjoying the beautiful colours and cosy comforts of autumn. As the days grow shorter and the evenings get cooler, we hope you and your pets are settling happily into the changing season.

We hope you enjoy reading this month’s newsletter, where we’ll be sharing advice on keeping your pets safe from Halloween hazards and fireworks, as well as introducing new member of our team! As always, thank you for being part of The Woodbridge Vets family.
Fireworks
As we approach the fireworks and bonfire night celebrations, here are some reminders for those of you with nervous or anxious pets.
Getting Ready for Fireworks Season
Ensure your pet’s microchip details are up to date, giving you a better chance of being reunited if they run away from home.
Check the dates of any nearby firework displays or large gatherings with firework celebrations.
Make sure you have curtains or blinds on all your windows to block out flashes from fireworks.
How to Keep Your Pet Calm on Fireworks Night
Walk your pet while it is still light, ideally getting home before dark, to avoid being out when fireworks are likely to be set off. A longer walk with plenty of opportunities to sniff and explore will tire your pet and help them relax.

Playing music can help drown out some of the fireworks noises. Classical music works well, or something with a deep bass to cover bangs and loud noises - just ensure it’s at a comfortable volume for your pet. It’s worth starting this a few days or weeks ahead so your pet gets used to the music before fireworks night.
Stick to normal routines and behave normally, but if it helps, try to distract them with something fun, such as a chew, a game, a puzzle feeder, or a toy stuffed with food.
Make a den or safe space for them to hide if they wish.
Comfort them if they come to you for reassurance - don’t ignore them. If they prefer to be alone, let them, but keep a close eye on them.
Use a stress relief supplement if needed.
We recommend Nutracalm sprinkle capsules to help support stressed or anxious pets. Nutracalm provides a novel and natural alternative for behavioural management, offering a unique high-strength formula to support pets during stressful events.
For more extreme anxieties please speak to your nominated vet for advice on other products which are available.
Halloween at The Woodbridge Vets!
Halloween is here, and we’re getting into the spooky spirit at The Woodbridge Vets! Last week, our lovely team, including staff dogs Remi and Stevie, got creative and took part in some pumpkin carving! You may have spotted some of our spooktacular creations outside the practice!
And as always, Joan has been busy preparing some Halloween tricks and treats for everyone! A big thank you to Joan for helping to make the season extra special for our team and visitors

A little Halloween reminder for our furry friends: While we love all the spooky fun, Halloween can sometimes be a little frightening for our pets. Keep sweets and chocolate safely out of reach, be careful with candles and decorations, and make sure our four-legged family members have a quiet, safe space away from all the excitement.

From all of us at The Woodbridge Vets, we hope you and your furry companions have a happy, safe and spooktacular Halloween!

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their experiences and support our team - it really means so much to us!

"My dog hurt her paw. I phoned at 8.00 in the morning and was given an appoinment straight away for 8.45. The receptionists there are so welcoming and helpful - especially Joan who always makes a vet trip easier for us. The vets are amazing there and are so good with my dog." -Client1

"It was quick and easy to get an appointment and the vet was excellent with my dog who isn't a big fan of going into the vets room but always excited to see the receptionist who always rewards him for being a good boy!" -Client4

"My young Labrador, has had his first non-routine visit to The Woodbridge Vets. It couldn’t have been a better experience. The reception staff were welcoming and very helpful and the vet Lizzie, was brilliant. I was grateful for her clear explanations to me and her care and confidence with my dog who responded by behaving very well! A diagnosis was made, and explained, treatment prescribed and supplied and everything sorted swiftly with no fuss. My sister recommended them to me. I have recommended them to my daughter and I would highly recommend The Woodbridge Vets to any dog owner." -Client5
